Family Education & Support Program

Open to All Caregivers of the Youth Enrolled in our Programs

How can the Family Support & Education Program help me?

It can be hard to know how best to address concerns about drug and alcohol abuse with our children.  We may also be struggling with feelings of anger, guilt, and isolation when we discover that our child is abusing substances.  Often, we do not know who to turn to for support, or where to find the knowledge we need to help us communicate with our child.  Panacea Services, Inc. offers a Family Support & Education program where the parents, guardians, caretakers, and significant others of substance abusing youths can access support regarding their concerns and experiences, as well as education that will equip them with the tools they need for the journey of coping with their child’s drug and alcohol use.

The program offers a safe and confidential environment for you to share your story with others; Panacea Services, Inc. staff members will not discuss your child’s information with you, nor your information with your child.

What will the program cover?

The program will address the following areas:

  - Validation and exploration of feelings

  - Education regarding substance abuse, including the Stages of Change Model

  - Accessing supports and building trust

  - Self-care

  - Building upon communication skills

  - Setting & enforcing boundaries

  - Learning how to support vs. rescue

Of course, this does not exhaust the full curriculum of the program.  This is your group and will be designed by the counselor based on your needs and goals.

How do I join?

Parents, guardians, caretakers, and significant others over the age of 21 who already have a child enrolled in one of Panacea Services, Inc. programs at any location (outpatient clinics or one of our schools) are able to join (please, no boy/girlfriends or young siblings). Upon admittance, you will be required to provide us with your basic information and sign our Admissions Agreement.  There is no cost involved.  You simply sign a Sign In Sheet each time you attend.
